Life Keeps Moving... Restore Motion
Notes about stretching:
- Stretches should feel like an elongated pull. The sensation should get your attention but never hurt.
- Try measuring the duration of your stretches by counting number of deep breaths instead of counting seconds. This will assure that you are paying attention to your breathing (and keep you from counting too fast or holding your breath).
- Hold each stretch for 5 deep, slow inhalation/exhalation cycles. That counts as one repetition. Do 2-3 repetitions of each stretch, twice per day. You can do the stretches more frequently throughout the day if they make you feel better.
- The goal of these stretches is to gently remind you about your body positioning to aid your posture. Good posture improves the ability of your muscles to support you.
Stretching periodically throughout your work day will help decrease your chances or repetitive stress injuries, decrease aches and pains -- and help keep you awake!
