We treat:
Pelvic Floor Tension / Pain (Dyspareunia, Vaginismus, Vulvar Vestibulitis, Coccydynia, Vulvodynia) is a prevalent problem, which affects women of all ages.  Pelvic pain can result from increased pelvic floor tension from trauma  in and around the pelvis, as well as increased tension around other organs, the abdomen and the back.  Symptoms may include painful penetration during sex or pain in the following regions:  low back, vagina, rectum, abdomen, buttocks and thighs.  Treatment may consist of manual therapy to relax pelvic floor muscles, biofeedback and exercises.  Dilation can also be used for stretching and desensitization to assist women with dyspareunia and vaginismus.
Urinary / Fecal Incontinence and voiding problems are extremely common -- affecting women and men of all ages.  Incontinence can severely alter your lifestyle and cause embarrassment.  Many feel it is a natural consequence of childbirth or a natural part of aging.  You don't have to live with incontinence!  Over 89% of incontinent clients can reduce or resolve their symptoms with exercise and education in lifestyle change.  Education in proper fluid management, dietary consideration and voiding habits can also maximize outcomes.
Constipation can be the result of poor diet, poor fluid intake and/or increased tension in the pelvic floor muscles.  Rehabilitation can include pelvic floor relaxation training, manual therapy and biofeedback.
Interstitial Cystitis can contribute to bladder and abdominal pain, frequent voiding sleep deprivation, dypareunia and is often associated with vulvar pain.  Treatment can consist of dietary consideration, manual therapy and exercises.
Pregnancy / Post-Partum Pain can be caused by a change in maternal hormones, and a change in posture and center of gravity secondary to the growing fetus.  These changes predispose the pregnant woman to problems in the spine, pelvis, ribcage, feet and wrists.  The internal organs and pelvic floor may also be affected as a result of weakness due to increased pressure, which can lead to incontinence.  Although common, pain and incontinence during pregnancy and post-partum are not normal.  Suggestions to improve body mechanics, manual therapy and pre-natal and post-partum exercises can assist with minimizing discomfort.
